This thought of “jack of all trades” usually has a negative connotation connected to it. Until I come across this article that states 7 phrases people often misquote. “A Jack of all trades is a master of none” being one of them.
3. A jack of all trades is a master of none.
“This saying got cut short as well and originally said “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” Unlike what our version would lead you to believe, having multiple interests but not being an expert in anything could actually prove advantageous.”
WOW!
For so long, I was afraid to identify with this saying. Even though I knew I was good at a lot of things. I wasn’t the best, but I was good! Things like Math, Painting, Drawing, Bowling, Nail Art, Singing, Dancing, Yoga, Designing, Jump Rope, Tetris, Chess, you name it I’ve probably tried it.
For so long I have been questioning my philosophy in life. It’s funny how a quote can make you doubt yourself. But if we take a closer look we can discover more. Not to say that the original saying is not correct. But more of a different perspective on life.
I find myself always asking why. Always wondering, always thinking. I may seem like an extrovert but I do love my quite moments to think.
This world is to beautiful to do the same thing over and over again.
Living by this mantra is what fuels my creativity. Always being curious about why things are the way they are. Helps me to better understand things. I find myself being open to new and different experiences because of it.
Creativity stems from being curious. We should be able to question things and their purpose. If we don’t then there is no room to grow. So whenever someone tells you, “you are a master of none but a jack of all trades” tell them it’s because you are a creative!
